The Honolulu airport is an amazing location to be landing in. The best part about the great airport is that its high class accommodations are available to all travelers. Some of the amazing deals are with the car rentals. Various car rental options are available to take advantage of from several different vendors of car rental services. The best way to find the vehicle needed for you, a spouse and possibly additional family is possible in many ways. The most common options are vehicles which can comfortably seat two people while others will require the use of a large sports utility vehicle or van to fit their family on vacation.

The main option that most people choose is to go to a rental desk while at the airport when they first arrive. While this is always a great option, it may not be the best option to save money. Booking vehicle rentals on the day of arrival does not save money, and you may be subject to the increase in price due to holidays and other events in the particular location, such as Honolulu. The best options for car rentals to places such as Hawaii are available through the internet.

Internet based rental services allow families/couples/individuals to look at all of the available vehicle options before getting to the island. Reservations can be made in advance as soon as it is decided that they will be traveling to Honolulu. This is a great way to ensure that the family gets the vehicle they need when they are on their vacation to the wonderful island of Honolulu. The best part is that several of the vehicles available through these online rentals will easily save money by providing them with the required vehicle at a lower rate than normal.

Do Rental Car Companies Take Check Cards?

Filed under: Car Rental Honolulu - 26 Mar 2010  | Spread the word !

[Facebook] [Twitter]

When dealing with car rental companies, it is a common belief that they will not accept check/debit cards. This makes sense as many will blatantly refuse to accept them under any circumstance for the first three to five minutes of the conversation. However, after persisting a little bit you will quickly find that they all will accept them unless the franchisee has put their own restrictions on what can be used as a deposit for a vehicle.

While nearly all companies who follow corporate policy accept debit/check cards, many will make you jump through additional hoops. In most cases a credit check (performed prior to you picking up the vehicle) and/or a sizable cash deposit will be necessary to rent a car. These precautions are set in place to help avoid any issues that may arise if the car is returned damaged or otherwise in need of repair.

Generally speaking, when you decide to use your debit or check card as a form or deposit for a car rental you should almost always have about two thousand dollars more than what you will need for the next two to three weeks in your account. Along with the sizable cash deposit (which is generally returned at the end of the rental period) you can also expect the rental company to put a hold on about five hundred dollars or so. If you go in expecting to leave without spending less than five hundred then you should reevaluate if you can actually afford to use your check card. In many cases, most people will find that it will be a much smoother and simpler process if you, or another driver, can use a credit card instead of fighting to use your debit card.

How to Beat Car Rental Agency Prices

Filed under: Car Rental Honolulu - 09 Mar 2010  | Spread the word !

[Facebook] [Twitter]

Every car rental agency advertises that they have the best price, but in all reality they all are overpriced and can become a great burden. There are some simple ways to beat these high charges and to pay a fair price or your car rental. The most important key in beating the high prices is to remember that these car rental agencies want your business and will do whatever they can to stay competitive in the market. They do not want to see you take your business to another agency and will often to whatever they need to ensure that you are driving their vehicle.

The first way to beat the high rental prices is to negotiate your price. If the standard daily rental fee is too high, make a different offer. Even if they do not accept this offer, they will often return with a counter offer until an agreeable price is determined. Most agencies do not advertise that price is negotiable, but it always is. If you speak with an agency not willing to negotiate price, then take your business elsewhere to one that will.

When shopping for a car rental, be sure to utilize the internet in order to comparison shop. When booking your rental, you can also use the internet. Visit an online coupon site in order to save on your purchase. These sites will provide you with codes to enter at checkout that can save you money off your rental, sometimes up to twenty percent or more!

How Much is Rental Car Insurance?

Filed under: Car Rental Honolulu - 26 Feb 2010  | Spread the word !

[Facebook] [Twitter]

When you rent a vehicle while you’re out of town, for any reason, you’re going to be looking for the best possible deal so that you don’t have waste all of your money on transportation. This isn’t a bad thing and it should be done more often, especially if you’re the type of person to take a quote from one company or location and see what offers you can get from others. However, rental car insurance that is offered by the companies is generally non-negotiable as they are not making a profit off of the cost of the insurance.

The insurance from rental car companies is a way to protect the driver, passengers and the rental company in the event of an accident. Fortunately, these companies also understand that they many people are not capable or willing to pay huge premiums for this coverage and so most companies will offer multiple options.

The number one option, which is generally included in the costs for the rental, is a basic insurance that covers anything that the driver is not at fault for. This is great for older drivers who are very cautious in their driving style and not likely to go beyond the limits of the vehicle. However, a huge factor is that this insurance does not cover accidents that you are deemed at fault for.

On the other hand, there is the full coverage insurance option. Basically, this insurance is a catch all for the drivers as it covers almost everything you could think of. However you will pay a premium for this insurance depending on your driving record, credit and your loyalty to the company. The total costs of insurance will range from $1.50-$15.00 per day for the basic coverage on up to $20-$60 per day for full coverage.

The Best Car Rental When Cruising to Kauai

Filed under: Car Rental Honolulu - 16 Feb 2010  | Spread the word !

[Facebook] [Twitter]

Every year people flock to the beautiful Hawaiian Islands. These islands offer the best of every world for travelers with opportunities to surf in the Pacific, hike along the trails on the beach or climb the volcanoes that make up the island chain while still offering all the amenities of a trip to any other city. And while many people are satiated with spending their time on one island, some like to travel from island to island for a day or two to explore and enjoy all of them.

The most popular islands in the Hawaiian chain are O’ahu, where Honolulu is which happens to be the capital of Hawaii, and Kaua’i. These two islands, while close together, can seem a world apart when you need to get to either from the other and need transportation. Renting a car when you landed in O’ahu would have been a viable option if the “Super Ferry” hadn’t been shut down in 2009 after only two years of operation. This leaves the only options for private transportation, after a short flight or a nice boat ride, up to renting another car on the new island.

As Honolulu has a larger airport it is advisable to fly to O’ahu so as to increase the fluidity of your travels. After you make your way to Kaua’i, finding the best car for your situation becomes of the utmost importance. It is recommended to stay with the same company as you make your travels through the islands for simplicities sake as well as the idea that you will setup a report with them and it will become easier to rent each time. Competitive pricing among the companies available makes your shopping easier because the costs will be nearly identical.
